Review – Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

I know what you are thinking. Don’t despair I’m not a fan of the Paranormal Activity movies but my daughter is a fanatic. Being the big fan that she is I have been coaxed to watch each and every one. Since my daughter is a found footage lover I promised I would take her to see this showing in the theater instead of waiting for DVD – Blu Ray etc. Compared to the previous Paranormals that have come out this one to me was not that bad. It was still cliche. Instead of the usual “fixed camera” The Marked Ones was shot Blair Witch style with predictable scare moments but the story differed from the familiar. The viewer is whisked away to an urban setting which I thought was a good change from the old house in the suburbs. If you have not seen the others in the series you wont be missing out much however there are a few references to the others in the series. Viewers can connect with the new characters quickly and follow this spin off easily while taking in a lot of laughs along the way. (More laughs than scares IMO). All and all I think this one may have been the best in the series, especially since I got to see my daughter scared out of her seat at the end of the movie. (Bonus) 🙂
