Weeds is a show I just started watching a few months ago which I’m addicted to. While watching an episode from season 5 one the characters “Andy” had this belt buckle on.
Yes that’s right a Fall Guys Stunt Association belt buckle. Lee Majors even makes an appearance in a later episode of Weeds as an Immigration minuteman.
The TV shows of the 80’s were great. They were more than great they were phenomenal. I could mouth off only a few shows from this past decade that really meant anything to me like “Weeds” and “LOST” for example. But the 80’s man, a time when I arrived fresh from South London to America at the age of 9. Fresh from a land with only four channels (one was a public channel) to a land with many channels requiring one turn for VHF channels and more tiring turns of the UHF dial and antenna adjustments to get to the shows I wanted to watch. There are so many to name.
Below is a “small” list of my favorites. Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles, Muppet Babies, Thundercats
Pee Wee’s Playhouse, Inspector Gadget, Transformers,
Perfect Strangers, Small Wonder, Dungeons and Dragons,
Silverhawks, Knight Rider,
3-2-1 contact, The A-team, Punky Brewster, The Snorks, Voltron
The Dukes of Hazzard, Happy Days, Growing Pains, MacGyver, Bionic Six, Danger Mouse, Tales from the Darkside, 21 Jump Street, WWF,
The Cosby Show, Spider man and his amazing friends, Hanna Barbara’s world of super adventure, Pound puppies, Doogie Howser M.D., Night court, The littlest hobo, Mork and Mindy, Battle of the planets, WKRP in Cincinnati, The get along gang, Buck Rogers in the 25th century
The little’s, The fall guy
Pole position, CHiPS, Mr. Belvedere, Automan, Who’s the boss, Hey vern its Ernest, The young ones, Friday the 13th The series, Family ties, The greatest American hero
Sledge hammer, ALF, Webster, Miami vice
Magnum P.I., Thundarr the barbarian, Remote control, Manimal, V
227, Tranzor Z, Alien nation, Street hawk, Blue thunder, Simon and Simon, Moonlighting
Hardcastle and McCormick, Laverne and Shirley, G Force, Riptide, Richie Rich, Spenser: for hire, Dynasty, Monkey, American gladiators, and Alfred Hitchcock presents. Whew!
Believe or not these are all shows I used to watch the entire series, or, at least five episodes or more and then gave up or lost interest. Shows like the ones listed are just not made any more. Sitcoms are dead and reality TV is now the mainstream. Im just waiting for a show like “The Running Man” to air.
If you grew up in the 80’s what was your favorite show.
What show currently would you say has you hooked?
